Mayawati to skip PM Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony

Mayawati has joined the number of top political leaders of the country who have decided to give PM Narendra Modi's oath-taking ceremony a miss. The Bahujan Samaj Party chief will not be attending the ceremony which will be taking place on Thursday at 7.00 pm.

Mayawati has joined few notable political leaders of the country who have decided to give PM Narendra Modi's oath-taking ceremony a miss. The Bahujan Samaj Party chief will not be attending the ceremony which will be taking place on Thursday at 7.00 pm.

Mayawati joins DMK chief MK Stalin, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in the 'skip list' of leaders not attending the event.

PM Narendra Modi will be sworn in for a second term as the Prime Minister on Thursday at 7 pm in Rashtrapati Bhavan along with his 40 Council of Ministers. The ceremony is expected to be attended by numerous dignitaries from the Centre and the states. 

The Chief Ministers of all states, state unit chiefs of BJP, state ministers, present members of Parliament, former members of the Parliament have been invited for the oath-taking ceremony. Among chief ministers belonging to the parties in Opposition who are coming to the function are Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-elect Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The swearing-in ceremony will be of about 90 minutes and after that, a dinner will be served to around 40 dignitaries which include several foreign leaders. The highest ever 8,000 guests, including VVIPs, will be attending the oath-taking ceremony of PM Modi and his council of Ministers that will be held at the forecourt — the stately path between the main gates and the main building in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. 

PM Narendra Modi's party the BJP won a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha elections by winning 303 seats and his coalition, the NDA won 353 seats in 2019.
