Amid the controversy that broke out after US president Donald Trump said that India wanted his mediation in solving the Kashmir crisis, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has created another controversy saying that her father said that Kashmir crisis will be solved after speaking to Hurriyat, Pakistani leaders and terrorists.
Speaking in a party conference, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said: "Mufti sahab used to say that there should be a solution to this (Kashmir issue). When Mufti Sahab became the Chief Minister, his agenda was clear. He said that without talking to Pakistan, Hurriyat & terrorists, things won't work."
She then went on to say that her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was heavily criticised for his stance.
"Mufti sahab was called Pakistan PM. Mufti sahab told his critics that what he said is right. Then Mufti sahab's health deteriorated. Then Mufti went to downtown. He didn't go there to repair lanes. He went to assure the people there that he is with them. Mufti sahab told them that 'you're children have been martyred.' Mufti sahab told them that I have come here so that the sacrifices you made should bear fruit."
Speaking about Article 370 and PDP's alliance with BJP, she said:
"When Mufti sahab passed away, it was traumatic for me. This void can never be filled. When we used to go to the forest, Mufti sahab used to ride the horse and I used to walk. We made PDP in this manner. Whenever I was with him, I thought we were one team. For me, Mufti sahab's passing away was troublesome. I was not ready to form government. I had made a decision that I won't form government. When I wanted to form the government, I wanted to clear a few things with the BJP & they were ready for it. But the people who deserted my party went to Nagpur. I thought that if the rebels form the govt with the BJP without me, then what would happen to Article 370? If Article 370 was tampered with, then people would have entered the homes of PDP leaders and lynched them. I was helpless. I consumed the poison. After I became the CM, Burhan Wani was encountered. Police was attacked and they pushed the children ahead."
President of United States of America has stoke controversy suring Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to US, when he lied that PM Modi sought his intervention in solving the Kashmir issue. He claimed that PM Modi had urged him to be a mediator in the case. When a reporter asked about peace in the subcontinent with respect to ongoing situtaion in Afghanistan, Khan said that Trump can play an important role in bringing peace in the sub continent. As the news created ripples, with Congress questioning the Prime Minister in the Parliament despite clarification of teh MEA and foreign minister S Jaishankar that PM Modi has not sought third party mediation in the issue.
