PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and NC chief Omar Abdullah on Tuesday lauded Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik after he said he would have been forced to make J&K People's Conference president Sajad Lone as the new CM if he had 'looked towards Delhi'.

The J&K Governor had said in the morning, "I would like to make it clear once again, that if I would have looked towards Delhi, I would've been forced to form Lone's government and I would have gone on to be remembered as a dishonest man in the annals of history. That's why I ended the matter."

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti replied to this and said that his decision to opt for dissolution of the state assembly was unprecedented considering J&K's history.

Omar Abdullah also complimented the governor for not looking at Delhi and thus 'stopping the installation of government of BJP'.

Here is the full quote of the Governor from Tuesday morning:

"I believe this is lack of knowledge, and we should not even look at it. What should we look at is that on the very day, I would repeat, that on the same day Omar and Mehbooba were saying that we will emerge victorious, they wanted to dissolve the assembly. Assembly got dissolved and they won. And they also won on the fact that another person (Sajjad Lone) was on the verge of forming the government, but he couldn't. And I would like to make it clear once again, that if I would have looked towards Delhi, I would've been forced to form Lone's govt and I would have gone on to be remembered as a dishonest man in the annals of history. That's why I ended the matter. Some will hurl abuses but I am convinced that I had done a good deed," he said.

The J-K assembly had been dissolved last week on November 21 following competing claims to form the government by Mehbooba Mufti's PDP, (backed by the National Conference and the Congress) and Handwara MLA Sajad Lone, (backed by the BJP).
