Slamming PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for blaming India's new Orange-blue jersey for its loss against England in the cricket World Cup on Sunday, Saamna editor and Shiv Sena MP, Sanjay Raut, on Monday, has asked why has Pakistan lost while wearing green jerseys, adding that Mufti should be sent to mental asylum for drawing such conclusions.
"Pakistan had worn a green jersey, right? Then why did they lose? People like Mehbooba Mufti should be sent to a mental asylum," said Raut.
Earlier on Sunday, in a bizarre tweet, former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti wrote about India's defeat in the World Cup match against England linking to the Orange jersey controversy.
The PDP chief had said that Team India switching to their new Orange jersey had to do with them breaking their streak of being undefeated in the series until now.
England handed India their first defeat in the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup as they defeated Men in Blue by 31 runs at Edgbaston on Sunday. As a result of this win, England has now moved to the third position in the tournaments standing. They have ten points in eight matches. While India remains at the second spot with 11 points.
The Orange jersey controversy had begun four days ago when Congress opposed the "Orange" colour of the jersey sported by Virat Kohli and his team on June 30 at Edgbaston.
In a massive controversy over Orange jersey, senior Congress MLA Nasim Khan had attacked Modi government, saying that "saffron politics started since Modi government has come to power".
"Whether it is sports or culture, Saffron politics has been started in this country since the Modi government has come to power. The Tricolor should be respected. This current government is trying to saffronise everything which is highly problematic," said the Congress MLA.
The controversy seemed to have died down but now since India has lost its first match in the World Cup, the moment has been made into an opportunity to politicise the match result.
