Like any other party, DMK also initially faced flak soon after announcing MK Stalin's son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, as the youth wing secretary in June. Political analysts and critics called it out, stating it as dynast politics as Udhayanidhi Stalin doesn't have much political experience when there are senior leaders in the party for the same post.
Udhayanidhi Stalin himself said that he wasn't interested in politics, but it was given by his father voluntarily and he will work to it with full commitment while the leaders in the next level of the party also backed his elevation.
With this is in foresight, Junior Vikatan, a famous political magazine, wrote an article calling DMK as "Dravida Munnetra Company" and the cover of the magazine had the picture of Stalin's family members, calling MK Stalin's wife Durga Stalin as Director, son Udhayanidhi Stalin as managing director and son-in-law Sabareesan as CEO of the Dravida Munnetra Company. MK Stalin's political party DMK stands for Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

The article also goes on to say that the key party decisions are not taken at the DMK headquarters, but taken at Teynampet (the residence of Stalin). The article also suggested that the next rung of leaders in the party are not happy about the interference of the family into the party affairs.
Hence, Durga Stalin, wife of DMK president MK Stalin issued a defamation notice to the Vikatan Group. She has asked Ananda Vikatan to issue an apology, withdraw the article and pay Rs 10 crores as compensation for the damages.
Durga in her legal notice says that she is not even a member of the DMK and the article is defamatory, false and malicious. She has also asked in the legal notice to furnish the source from where the magazine has got the information based on which the article was written. She has also asked magazine group to pay Rs 10 crore damages in 48 hours time, which will be used to charitable purposes according to the legal notice.
