The Congress on Wednesday reacted to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's video calling it 'unfortunate and ridiculous' of him to threaten his party member with an axe. A video which was uploaded by Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala shows ML Khattar in a rally with an axe in his hand. CM ML Khattar was in a rally when he was accused of threatening his party worker of chopping his neck off with an axe.
As the video went viral, criticism started pouring. Defending his action, the Haryana CM said that his action was a reaction to his irritation when his party worker tried placing a silver crown on his head.
Khattar said, "We have taken 5 years to end the gold and silver fancy culture in the state. So, if my party worker comes and ties a silver crown on my head, I will surely get angry. That is why I issued a threat and my party worker did not feel bad about it."
Former Indian National Congress MP Deepender Hooda spoke to Republic TV and called ML Khattar's behaviour 'unfortunate'. Condemning CM Khattar, Deepender Hooda said that it is unacceptable of Khattar to use such words while he is siiting on an important constitutional position of a Chief Minister of the State. Alleging ML Khattar further, Hooda also stated that if the law is been followed in this incident, an IPC case can be lodged if someone publically threatens to kill somebody.
"गर्दन काट दूंगा तेरी" अपने कार्यकर्ता के लिये ये भाषा क्या किसी संवैधानिक पद पर बैठे व्यक्ति को शोभा देती है?— Deepender S Hooda (@DeependerSHooda) September 11, 2019
हरियाणा के मुख्यमंत्री की ये भाषा अहंकार और भाजपाई घमंड का प्रतीक है। भाजपा ये न भूले कि इस देश में घमंड किसी का नहीं टिक पाया है। pic.twitter.com/Ut0rP3KQ4a
Calling CM ML Khattar a repeat offender, Deepender Hooda also blamed him for making insensitive comments about crime on women in the past. He said that ML Khattar had blamed women a while ago for being responsible of the increasing crime rate happening against them.
Deepender Hooda called the BJP Haryana Government to be a symbol of arrogance and power and also advised ML Khattar to think before using such words as he represents the people of Haryana beyond any party line. CM ML Khattar was also accused by Hooda of getting away with his action of threatening someone publically just because he is the Chief Minister of the State.
Haryana is due for Legislative Assembly elections in October. Campaigns for the polls have already begun in the state with senior leaders of both Congress and BJP campaigning for their party candidates. The incident took place when ML Khattar was in a rally in Haryana.
