In a major victory for the BJP government, the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill 2019 tabled by Union Home  Minister Amit Shah, has been passed in the Lok Sabha on Friday.

Slamming the Congress' Opposition to the  Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act (Amendment), Shah gave a befitting answer to the Opposition reminding them of the role played by the Congress in the Jammu and Kashmir issue. Here are seven of his fiercest quotes rebutting the Congress' reply to the bill.

  • President's rule in J&K

"As of date article 356 (President's rule) has been imposed 132 times in J&K. Out of which 93 times the Congress government has imposed it. And they (Congress) is now saying that we are trampling democracy. Will these people teach us democracy?"

  • Jamaat-e-Islami's ban

"Why was Jamaat-e-Islami not banned till date? Who did you want to please? It was the Narendra Modi government that banned Jamaat-e-Islami. Who put the ban on JKLF? It was BJP government who did it. Which nation's reparation are you working for?"

  • Nehru's role in giving PoK to Pakistan

"Who did the partition? Partition was a big mistake done by the Congress party. We have lost 1/3 rd of J&K. Who ordered the for ceasefire against the Pakistan army back then? It was then-PM Jawaharlal Nehru who did it and gave that portion(PoK) to Pakistan. You say we don't take people into confidence, but Nehru Ji did it without taking the then Home Minister into confidence. If he had confided with his ministers, then today PoK would be a part of India today and maybe there would be no terrorism. 370 exists only in J&K where Nehruji did the negotiation."

  • Muslim Conference (1931)

"In J&K, during 1931 Muslim Conference was established led by Sheikh Abdullah. Why did Congress not create a party unit there and supported the Muslim Conference? Congress put all its eggs in Abdullah's bucket but Abdullah ran away with the bucket. As a result, Sheikh Abdullah became Chief Minister in J&K."

  •  SP Mukherjee's death

"In 1953 when Syama Prasad Mukherjee Ji entered Kashmir protesting against the existence of two Prime Ministers in one country, he was thrown in jail where he died. His death was also not probed. Why? Was he not a Senior Opposition leader? Was he not a leader from Bengala and a former Union Minister?"

  • Pakistani TV channels and Separatists' protection

"People who talked against India were given protection. Our government has reviewed the protection status and revoked protection to 919 opposers out of the 2000 people who were granted protection because they were talking against the nation."

  • Anti-Tukde Tukde gang

"Some say there is an atmosphere of fear in Kashmir. Those who are against India should have fear in their hearts. We are not part of 'Tukde Tukde' gang. We are not against common people of J&K, we have started the process of providing them jobs and all government schemes."
