Along with a national outrage over the Muzaffarpur mass rape case, there is a shroud of mystery over the role of two key people in Bihar shelter home rapes. One name which surfaces since the very beginning is of Rajesh Raushan and the other one being Ravi Raushan. Ravi Raushan, a Child Protection Officer, was arrested as an accused in the case. However, his family has been claiming that he has been implicated for taking on politicians.
"Ravi Raushan is my nephew. The versions of other witnesses and a thorough study of the case diary reveal that Ravi Raushan has been implicated in place of Rajesh Raushan. Rajesh Raushan is the promoter of NGO. The victim girls took his name and the politician’s name in their statements to the police. A bribe of Rs 35 lakh has been given to save the culprits," said one of the family members of Ravi Raushan.
Ravi Raushan's family has also claimed that Rajesh Raushan has political links which is why he was saved.
"Rajesh Raushan has political links. He is being saved as the government is thinking that Brajesh Thakur has been arrested in the case, if they could save Raushan, they will be able to save the NGo. Even the other promoter Madhu Kumari has political links," said one of the family members of Ravi Raushan.
Ravi Raushan's uncle has also claimed that his nephew was the informant in the case, however, he was implicated to save the accused in the case.
“Ravi Raushan was the first witness in the case, he was the informant in the case. The case was heading towards the right direction. They got scared that other official of the NGO will be implicated in the case, so they implicated Ravi in the case by fabricating documents,” he said.
Earlier on Saturday, Republic TV had stung 3 key players which blew off one big cover-up claim. The first sting tape showed how the investigating officer in the case, gave a clean chit to the netas and instead questioned the victims.
Investigating Officer Jyoti Kumari in a brazen attempt to clear Brajesh Thakur’s aide Rajesh Raushan’s name said that none of the girls took the name of Rajesh Raushan, if someone must have, they must have been mistaken.
“None of the children spoke about Rajesh Raushan, maybe by mistake, Brajesh sir Brajesh sir, even the kids fumble sometimes,” said Jyoti Kumari.
The family of Ravi Raushan (Child Protection Officer, Muzaffarpur), who has been arrested in the case, has been claiming that Rajesh Raushan had been named by the victims, but his name was replaced by Ravi’s name. The family has also claimed that Ravi was in fact the whistleblower in the case, who was exposing the atrocities at the shelter home. They have also been claiming that Ravi Raushan had even written a letter to the Bihar government narrating what the victims were going through in the shelter home and expressing the need for CCTV cameras.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, a day after Republic TV had stung Devesh Sharma - the Assistant Director of Social Welfare Department, he has been suspended for the delay in taking action after TISS social audit report. A total of 13 officials have been suspended including 6 assistant directors and 7 protection officers of various districts in connection with the Muzaffarpur mass rape cover-up case. They have been suspended for not acting on the report submitted to them earlier.
