The Congress has been buoyant over the last 24 hours since the official induction of Priyanka Gandhi into the party, with many leaders and workers remarking on how this was the fulfilment of a years-long demand. Joining in this exultation is none other than Navjot Singh Sidhu who has not minced his words.

"This is a boon for me...", Sidhu has written on Twitter, adding, "everyone in the Congress is thrilled and inspired by the good news... it is a shot in the arm... the catalyst that will galvanise the party and infuse fresh spirit in our veins."

He posted this with a photo of himself with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Not done there, the former Cricketer added another tweet where he continued in the same vein:

"She is a terrific role model world-over and her charisma & magnetism will be the spark that ignites the Congress."

On how this would impact Rahul Gandhi, he said, "Rahul Bhai's strength multiplies - Ek aur ek gyarah (1+1=11), BJP 9-2-11 (Nau-do-gyarah - Hindi expression meaning 'has run away')"

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was on Wednesday appointed as Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East, while Jyotiraditya Scindia was appointed General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh West. Visiting Amethi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said that he had given the pair of them a mission to take all sections of society forward under the Congress' ideology. He also left the door open for the SP and BSP to change their minds about snubbing the Congress in their pre-poll alliance.

The BJP, on the other hand, spoke about the introduction of Priyanka Gandhi, who had earlier been clear that she would not enter active politics, as yet another exemplar of the Congress proclivity for dynastic politics, as well as a signal of admission that Rahul Gandhi had failed.

Sources have told Republic TV that Priyanka Gandhi may also be lining up an election run, contesting from her mother's Rae Bareli constituency, while her husband and Rahul Gandhi's brother-in-law Robert Vadra may be fielded as a top campaigner for the party.
