NCP calls core committee meeting in Pune, Sharad Pawar likely to be in Delhi

Amid the fast-paced developments in Maharashtra, Congress’s alliance partner in the State, NCP has decided to hold a core committee meeting in Pune on Sunday

Amid the fast-paced developments in Maharashtra, Congress’s alliance partner in the State, NCP has decided to hold a core committee meeting in Pune on Sunday. This comes as the three-party delegation of Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena that was supposed to visit the Governor on Saturday got postponed. Also, as per sources the NCP supremo, Sharad Pawar is likely to meet the AICC president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday.  

Three party-delegation meet postponed 

A three-party delegation of leaders from the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, who were supposed to meet the Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshiyari to discuss ways to provide a stronger administration to the state has been postponed. As per the NCP spokesperson, Nawab Malik, the delegation was supposed to discuss the farmer distress in Maharashtra and other things like having a steady and stable administration in the state with the Governor. However, the meeting is now postponed. Earlier, the NCP had asserted that the three-party alliance will successfully complete a full term in Maharashtra. However, the BJP has also claimed that they will be forming a Government in the state.

Sharad Pawar on mid-term elections 

Addressing a press conference Sharad Pawar said, "Since attempts to form a government have started; sooner or later the government would be formed. There are no chances of mid-term elections, but a stable government would be formed that will last for five years". Recently, as per sources, the Congress and the NCP, which fought the assembly polls together, and the Shiv Sena have prepared a draft common minimum program (CMP).

Devendra Fadnavis confident on forming government in Maharashtra  

According to sources, the former CM of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis also told the BJP MLAs and cadres in a meeting on Friday that they will soon form government in the State. After President's rule was imposed in Maharashtra over a long political impasse, BJP's Devendra Fadnavis had called the imposition 'very unfortunate' and said that the BJP expects that the State will get a 'stable' government. The BJP leader further said that he expects the other parties to take the situation seriously.
