There was drama aplenty in Parliament on Friday as Congress President Rahul Gandhi concluded his speech on the No Confidence motion in the Lok Sabha by hugging Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan was the first to give her views on the hug, asking Rahul Gandhi not to do 'drama'. Since then, however, both the ruling NDA and the Opposition had a number of things to say about the hug.

MoS Sports and Youth Affairs and Information & Broadcasting Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was not impressed with the hug and called it a stunt.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar called it 'childish' - If he wants to hug someone he can do that outside the Parliament. His behaviour and conduct today was a childish act. He is a grown-up but it is very unfortunate that he isn't acting like one.

Congress leader Ajay Maken, however, was very impressed with the hug, calling it a 'winner'

Harsimrat Kaur Badal, who had at least two exchanges with Rahul Gandhi during the course of the Congress president's speech had plenty to say:

"That was a comedy show. I am still laughing. Bollywood should have a look. Parliament has seen an actor today. He is doing Pappi-Jhappi drama inside Parliament."

Congress-ally RJD and Tejashwi Yadav couldn't get enough of it, with the party calling it "a turning-point in Indian politics".

Former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took on a journalist and backed the hug:

MP Kirron Kher wasn't impressed- "Bollywood will be the next destination for Rahul Gandhi. He will do acting better."

Jyotiraditya Scindia: "That was an emotional gesture. It was not scripted."

Sitaram Yechury: "Rahul Gandhi expressed his sentiments. What to comment now?"

The Congress, obviously, thought highly of Rahul Gandhi's hug

The BJP thought it was entertaining:
