Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti explode at each other, whirlwind November alliance all but forgotten

Doubts, if there were any, over whether the PDP and JKNC had permanently buried the hatchet following their whirlwind alliance (also including the Congress) to force an end to the political impasse in Jammu and Kashmir have been put to rest - of course they haven't.

Doubts, if there were any, over whether the PDP and JKNC had permanently buried the hatchet following their whirlwind alliance (also including the Congress) to force an end to the political impasse in Jammu and Kashmir have been put to rest - of course they haven't.

Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah are at each other's throats again, and a fierce war of words is currently ongoing on Twitter.

It was Omar Abdullah who issued the first attack, calling out Mehbooba Mufti for going to the homes of slain terrorists to "rehabilitate a badly damaged reputation". Calling the state's most recent Chief Minister the architect of 'Operation All-Out' to eliminate active terrorists in the Valley, Abdullah wrote:

In response, Mehbooba Mufti put forth that she was fulfilling her duty as an opposition leader, as she had done when Abdullah was the CM:

Mufti's submission, which effectively equates to 'it's the government's duty to kill terrorists and the Opposition's to politicise', was jumped on by Omar Abdullah who wrote back:

This is perhaps the first time that the two former Chief Ministers have gone toe-to-toe in such a fashion since they allied in an attempt to form a majority government during the sensational events of November 21. On that night, the PDP-JKNC-Congress had written to J&K Governor Satyapal Malik seeking to install Mehbooba Mufti as the Chief Minister. However, the letter allegedly never made it to the Governor, owing to a now infamously faulty fax machine. A competing claim from the newly-formed JKPC-led Sajad Lone, allegedly backed by the BJP, was also made, following which Satyapal Malik (it was Governor's rule in the state at the time) controversially decided to dissolve the state assembly. Elections are now set to be held in Jammu and Kashmir, likely in tandem with the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, and the PDP and JKNC appear all set to contest against each other again.
