With the CBI conducting raids at Lawyers Collective and the residence of noted lawyers Indira Jaising and Anand Grover the opposition has questioned the event. Lawyers Collective is an NGO run by Jaising and Grover.

The raids took place at the Delhi and Mumbai offices of the NGO. Indira Jaising commented on the raids saying, "Mr Grover and I are being targeted for the human rights work that we have done over the years."

Defending Jaising and Grover, the Trinamool Congress tweeted a quote by leader Derek O'Brien where he called the move by the Centre 'vendetta' and also said that the country is facing 'super-emergency'.

"The CBI raid at the residence of Indira Jaisingh and Anand Grover is yet another example of the many instances of vendetta. This government is harassing citizens and all voices of opposition. This is a super emergency," the quote read.

Earlier on Thursday, Aam Aadmi Party's Arvind Kejriwal also tweeted about the raids. He said that the raids were being done against people "who fought for upholding Constitutional values" were a part of the vendetta.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) booked Grover, the president of Lawyers Collective, and unidentified office-bearers of the organisation, besides unidentified officials. The allegation was strongly disputed by Lawyers Collective in a statement issued last month. Although the CBI did not name Grover's wife and former additional solicitor general (ASG) Indira Jaising as an accused in the FIR, the complaint filed by the ministry, which is now part of the FIR, mentions allegations against her.
