Senior Congress leader Ashok Chaudhary, who was ousted from the party on Tuesday lashed out at the Congress party. He alleged that he was removed unceremoniously from the post and was being targeted for his caste. Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday relieved Ashok Choudhary from his post as Bihar PCC chief with immediate effect.
While speaking to Republic TV he said, ‘CP Joshi has played his cards very well and somehow managed to convince the Congress high command, Rahulji and Soniaji, that I am involved in splitting the party, thus the decision was taken. I was ready to quit and resign and till now have not received a call from CP Joshi informing me that I have been removed.'
My father and I have served the Congress party for seventy years, do I deserve such an exit? Have I not worked hard for the party in the last four and a half years? The general secretary has put out this conspiracy against me.
On being questioned if he feels the CP Joshi misled the Congress high command, ‘When the Mahagathbandhan was crumbling, no one from the Congress turned up. Was the Mahagathbandhan made by the Congress party of Ashok Chaudhary? Why was there no effort to save it?’ He said that this shows that “the Congress leaders are allying with Laloo Yadav even though he terms the Congress leaders as ‘Chirkuts’.”
He added that he along with the MLAs had apprised the Congress high command on disassociating themselves with RJD Supreme Lalu Yadav.
Lastly, when asked if he will be joining Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Ashok Chaudhary said that he has not made any decision yet but added that he has maintained cordial relations with Nitish Kumar.
‘Nitish Kumar has given a lot of importance and patience to me’, he said.
According to reports, a rebellion has been brewing in the state ever since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar broke the grand alliance and joined hands with the BJP to form a new government in the state. Not too long ago, Chaudhary accused "some" AICC leaders of fuelling a rebellion against him with the "false propaganda" that he was making attempts to split the party, in Patna.
