Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ram Kadam from Mumbai’s Ghatkopar constituency landed in trouble on Monday night while talking about proposing to women and then offering to 'kidnap' them for men. In a video shared by NCP MLA  Dr.Jitendra Awhad‏ on a micro-blogging site, MLA Ram Kadam is clearly heard making this outrageous 'promise'.

"You can call me.. if you call me saying I have proposed a girl and need your help.. I will definitely help you.. I will call your parents and ask them...If they say they like that girl then... I will kidnap that girl and give it you.. now take my number", Ram Kadam said while addressing a crowd of thousands that had gathered to witness his Dahi Handi festival.

When confronted by Republic TV, the MLA tried to justify his irresponsible statement and said:

"That was just an interaction with the people over there. I clearly mentioned that they shoulkd first take permission from their parents before getting married. I dis not mean to kidnap girls".

He went on to take a complete U-turn and said that he will not apologize for the bizarre statement.

"That was not my statement. People were gossiping there and they made those statement. I will not apologize for the statement because it was not mine".

Meanwhile, Ram Kadam's statement has attracted heavy criticism from the opposition parties. Now, the ball is in BJP's court. The party has not commented on the statement so far; nor it has taken any action against him.

In a similar incident that took place on Wedneday, Anubrata Mandal, the Trinamul Birbhum chief and close aide of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was caught on tape threatening his opponents. Republic TV has accessed his video in which Mandal can be clearly instructing the workers to get a rebel and a woman, who had recently joined the BJP in East Burdwan's Ausgram, arrested by police. Mandal is seen directing to get the woman arrested on the charge of possessing cannabis.

"Arrest the man whom we have excluded from the five-member committee. Also, that other woman, that plump one. What's her name? The one with the cloth shop, get her arrested too. She is a BJP worker. Can you control them? Tell me, If you can control them, otherwise we will arrest them in a drug case and put them behind bars", the TMC leader was heard instructing.
