Even as the opposition supports Mamata Banerjee in the standoff between the CBI and the West Bengal CM over the investigative agency's attempt to question Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, the BJP has questioned Rahul Gandhi over Congress' stand on the issue.
The Congress, TDP, Samajwadi Party, AAP have all spoken supporting the TMC chief.
However, Congress had taken an entirely different position on Mamata Banerjee's politics a few years ago.
In 2016, the party had slammed the West Bengal chief minister in a tweet saying she protected the corrupt than taking action against them. It also borrowed from party president Rahul Gandhi's speech who had attacked her saying she has been duplicitous on her stand regarding corruption.
"Mamata ji kahti thi brashtachar ko bangal se mita doongi, lekin jab unhe brashtachar dikhai diya, unke saamne, unke logo ne chori ki, toh Mamataji ne unpar action nahi liya ulta unki poori raksha ki," he said.
"Mamataji used to say that she will expel corruption from Bengal, but when she realised her own people were corrupt, and stole money, instead of taking action against them she protected them," he said.

Some other tweets by the party include:
Sonia Gandhi had also made mention of the chit fund scam.
BJP leader Nalin Kohli has hit out at Banerjee over the entire issue, saying that those 'fighting for Constitution' are actually the ones going against it.
"It is reported in the media that one of the accused Supdipto Sen has pointed that laptop, pendrives have been seized and not been showed as seizure documents. What is it Mamata Banerjee is so petrified about, frightened that it will come out and will create a problem for them. Can one imagine a chief minister is coming on a dharna, forget constitutional propriety and is immediately there to protecting an officer who is seen thwarting the investigation and then they talk about democracy. In a state, where BJP workers are murdered, brutalised, permission for landing of chief minister's helicopter landing is denied, every thing happened in a non democratic is pursued. These are crocodile tears in the name of so called 'Saving of Democracy, Saving of Constitution', those who act against constitution, are ones who are clearly speaking in the language of protecting it. It is an ult imate irony, paradox," he said.
