Setting the narrative for the year ahead on the very first day of 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking exclusively to ANI's editor Smita Prakash, opened up on a host of issues, right from Triple Talaq to Sabarimala to Rafale to upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
One of the most important point he spoke about was his idea of 'Congress-mukt Bharat'. BJP and PM Modi have vocal about packing Congress' bags from all parts of the country. The Prime Minister stated that he doesn't have any problem with Congress as a party, but has qualms with their culture and functioning.
"I have spoken in detail about this earlier also. Congress people also feel that Congress is just a thought. It is a culture. It also became the political culture of India. And what is the culture? Casteism, family politics, undemocractic, corruption, this is the culture of Congress' politics, and they endorse these. When I say Congress mukt, I say we should be mukt of the culture. And I even say, Congress should also be free from Congress culture. It is not about institute staying or not. In democracy, I believe there should be a strong opposition. But unfortunately, Congress is failing to do that as well," he told Smita Prakash
During the course of the interview, PM Modi also took a swipe at the family running the Congress party, Gandhis. Accusing them of trying to flush away cases in which they are accused, the Prime Minister said,
"Zamanat pe bhi toh hain (They are out on bail). Those who are on bail, can do it.... but it is a fact that those considered `First Family', who ran the country for four generations, are out on bail, that too for financial irregularities. It is a big thing. A set of people, who are at their service, are trying to suppress such information and push other narratives."
