Poll strategist Prashant Kishor has made a sensational announcement regarding his entry into politics and is set to join a party for whom he has delivered a stunning election victory.
Kishor has taken to Twitter to announce that he is 'Excited to start his new journey from Bihar'
As per Republic TV's sources, Kishor is all set to formally join the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal(United) on Sunday.
Prashant Kishor has familial ties with Bihar. His father worked there as a doctor. Additionally, the political campaign strategist has also worked with the JD(U) in the past, helping the party's erstwhile 'Mahagathbandhan' alliance with the Lalu Prasad Yadav-led RJD to a remarkable win over a seemingly dominant BJP in the late-2015 Assembly elections.
Before that, Kishor had shot to fame on account of his work with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Their association dates back to the 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections in which Modi won his third term as Gujarat CM, and reached its pinnacle when Kishor's Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG) aided the BJP in winning a historic majority in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, being credited for, among other things, the viral 'Chai pe Charcha' campaign.
However, it hasn't all been election successes for Kishor. He joined up with the Congress for the Assembly elections that were held in the first half of 2017, and while he received significant credit for his work in Punjab, where Captain Amarinder Singh became Chief Minister, but in the electorally critical state of Uttar Pradesh, the Congress slumped to a dismal defeat with the BJP running rampant.
Since then, Prashant Kishor has maintained a relatively low profile, working with his Political Action Committee (PAC). Before entering the political arena as a strategist, he had worked with the United Nations for eight years. He's a public health expert by training.
