Amid the stalemate in Maharashtra over government formation, Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan asked to 'wait for the Governor's decision' to decide the future course of action. Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday maintained a tight lip over the Congress's reported outside support to any Sena-NCP government. The Congress is yet to decide on their support to Shiv Sena to form a government in Maharashtra. The Shiv Sena asked the Governor of Maharashtra  Bhagat Singh Koshyari for a 48-hours extension, however, it was declined.

"Let us wait for the governor’s decision. If 48 hours are asked, we will wait and find out what happens," Prithviraj Chavan said.

Meanwhile, in the latest update, the Governor met with the NCP delegation and gave them a deadline until Tuesday evening, 8:30 PM to form the government. NCP delegation comprising of Chhagan Bhujbal, Jayantrao Patil, Dhananjay Munde, Dilip Walse Patil and Ajit Pawar met the Governor. NCP is the third-largest party in the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly.
