Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh hits out at BJP for 'Promoting' 'The Accidental PM', terms the film as 'A complete lie'

Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh has hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its leaders for promoting the upcoming film 'The Accidental Prime Minister', stating it is a sign of their frustration following their defeat in the recent state elections.

The official Twitter handle of BJP, along with a few of its leaders, re-tweeted and shared the trailer of the film which is based on the book written by the media advisor of the two-time former PM Manmohan Singh. 

Congress criticized the makers of the movie, accusing them of wrongly showing facts about the Gandhi family, as well as attacking the BJP for endorsing a commercial film. And now, Capt. Amarinder Singh has joined in the chorus.

"Trailer of the Accidental Prime Minister which was tweeted from BJP's official twitter handle and promoted by its leaders to criticize Dr Singh (Manmohan Singh) clearly shows their desperation and frustration in the face of imminent defeat in upcoming Lok Sabha election," he was quoted by ANI.

He also took to Twitter to put forth his point of view, where he mentioned that it promotion of the film by BJP is a political stunt while defending Sonia Gandhi.

The trailer of the much awaited film based on the book by Sanjaya Baru garnered positive responses from fans after it was released on December 27. Many of them appreciated the performance of lead actor Anupam Kher, who portrays the role of Manmohan Singh.

But just a day after the trailer came out, Congress began its protest against the film and accused the BJP of having a hand behind it. The Youth wing of the Congress party demanded the film to be screened to them before the official release, while some leaders even demanded a ban on the film.
