A big political face-off has broken out over Rahul Gandhi’s Rafale warning as now Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has hit out at him warning him to not play with national security. Condemning the statement of Rahul Gandhi’s statement over Rafale targetting the Prime Minister, the Union Law Minister said:
“In the history of independent India, no national party president has ever made such comments about a prime minister. We will expose the Congress party.”
Congress President Rahul Gandhi, while addressing party’s social media workers in Amethi on Monday night used his thief jibe for Prime Minister Narendra Modi yet again and quipped:
“The man (Prime Minister Modi), who came to remove corruption, has himself given Rs 30,000 crore to Anil Ambani. The fun has just begun, things are set to turn more interesting. In the next 2-3 months you will have fun after we will show you Narendra Modi's work - Rafale, Vijay Mallya, Lalit Modi, Demonetisation, Gabbar Singh Tax. All of it is theft. One by one, we will show that Narendra Modi ji is not a watchman, but a thief.”
Gandhi issued the statement at the Forest Department guest house in Amethi which was closed to the media. However, video of Rahul Gandhi's jibe at Narendra Modi was recorded by some attendees and was shared with local reporters.
Rahul Gandhi's statement came even as he ducked question on Robert Vadra angle to Rafale fight jet row. The BJP on Tuesday, alleged that Congress president Rahul Gandh’s brother-in-law Robert Vadra’s friend Sanjay Bhandari sought to partner with Dassault for the Rafale deal by entering into a joint venture with Rafaut.
Reacting on Rahul Gandhi’s deplorable remarks, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said:
“It's matter of shame for Congress that a person like Rahul Gandhi, who is irresponsible and is a liar, is their president. We can't expect anything else from a leader whose entire family is buried in scams,be it Bofors or National Herald.”
Meanwhile, BJP workers are staging a protest against Rahul Gandhi’s 'thief' jibe for PM Modi in Amethi.
While speaking to Republic TV, Union Minister Smriti Irani too slammed Rahul Gandhi and said, “a 50-year-old boy is Congress President.”
Rahul Gandhi's yet another Rafale attack came even as Former French President Francois Hollande issued a clear denial and said he was 'unaware' on India putting pressure for taking Reliance on board for the deal. When asked by French news agency AFP whether India had put pressure on Reliance and Dassault to work together, Hollande said he was “unaware” and “only Dassault can comment on this.”
An article in a French journal triggered a massive controversy as it had a statement of Hollande purportedly saying that it was the Indian government that proposed Reliance's name and Dassault had no choice but to take the company given to it.
After the controversy over Rafale broke out, Dassault Aviation, in a press release, stated that to choose Reliance Group as a partner was its own choice. Furthermore, the French government has also dismissed former President Francois Hollande’s claim and mentioned it was a private to private negotiation.
