While claiming that Rahul Gandhi and his brother-in-law Robert Vadra are 'working hand in glove', Textiles minister Smriti Irani, in an exclusive with Republic TV, accused the Congress President of 'raising imaginary questions on behalf of Vadra's friends'.
Questioning Rahul Gandhi over the real reason behind his attack on BJP over Rafale, the Textiles minister said, "Rahul Gandhi cannot distance himself from Robert Vadra on this issue. If Rahul Gandhi speaks against Vadra, then Vadra will expose all the wrongdoings of Rahul and his family. If Rahul Gandhi isn't connected , then why is he posing question on behalf of Vadra's friends? And questions that are not steeped with facts, but actually imaginary positions that he is taking."
The former HRD minister also lashed out at the Congress supremo for his continuous attack on PM Modi. "They've called him chor (thief), neech (low-class), anpad (illiterate), gawar. But each time he (PM Modi) comes back stronger. Rahul Gandhi is trying the good old strategy of politics of repetitive, slurs. This is why people of this country know that Congress has a political delinquent for a president. 'Bada maza aayega' (There will be a lot of fun), not even a school child talks like that," she added.
Rahul Gandhi has been on the forefront of the attack on PM Modi and BJP over the Rafale deal, putting forward number of conspiracy theories, most of them on the pricing of the aircrafts and choosing of Anil Ambani's Reliance as the 'interlocutor' in the deal.
But on Monday, Republic TV, in an exclusive news break, found that the Congress President's brother-in-law, Robert Vadra, had links with arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari, who was trying to seek partnership with Dassault in 2012 for the deal, but was rejected by the company.
On Tuesday, in yet another major exclusive, Republic TV accessed a 100-page document, which contained mail-trails between Vadra and Sumit Chadha. Chadha is a close aide of Sanjay Bhandari, and in the e-mails accessed by Republic TV, his direct contact with Vadra confirms that favors were exchanged between the two parties.
In the first page, the mail-trail between the two shows the kind of talks taking place in the 19 cr mansion of Vadra in London, which was brought by Chadha. Further, in the second page, Chadha sends an e-mail to Vadra, letting him know about the progress of the refurbishing of that mansion.
