Attacking the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday, has addressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that if Sitharaman is misinforming the Prime Minister about the state of the Indian economy being great, then it is untrue adding 'There seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel, the train of recession coming at full throttle.'
Earlier on July 5, after Sitharaman presented her maiden budget speech, Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala took to Twitter to slam the budget calling it lacklustre, nondescript, uninspiring and directionless.
Meanwhile, his fellow congressman Jyotiraditya Scindia too had questioned that lack of mention of jobs, farmers, price collapse in the Finance Minister's budget speech.
Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram made a bizarre comment on Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's red folio carrying the Union Budget saying Congress' future finance minister will bring an iPad, instead of the budget briefcase.
Exactly at 11 AM, FM Nirmala Sitharaman rose to present the Budget for 2019-2020. The tempo right from the start was charged with the recalling of the promises of Modi Government before this election- the promise of delivering on a “New India” and with that-- the slogan of Budget 2019 was set. Within 5 minutes the speech, Finance Minister Sitharaman stated about Prime Minister Modi's vision of 5 trillion dollar economy.
Congress, on the other hand, is yet to find a successor to Rahul Gandhi's presidential post. Delaying the uncomfortable leadership tussle, on Thursday, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) will meet after the current session of Parliament, said Surjewala adding that Gandhi was very much a part of the meeting and would attend.
