Bahujan Samaj Party's Mayawati has deplored the actions of BJP in Ayodhya, calling Ram Mandir a political move.

She accused BJP of not fulfilling their promises which they bragged about in 2014, "Back in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and especially Narendra Modi had made huge promises and shown big dreams to the people of the country's well-being, which in my belief has not even been fulfilled by 50%. The BJP and Prime Minister himself has a realisation of this fact. Not just this, the government is aware that the five states going for elections, they might not attain power there. Hence, the government has strategically played a political card in Uttar Pradesh by grinding the issue of Ram Mandir."

She further critisized for not bringing up this issue in their 4 years of being in power, but raising it now for political gains, "If they really had plans to build the temple, the government has been in power with absolutely majority for long enough, they would have done it way back without waiting for so long. The government should have taken up the issue to the Supreme Court or brought in Ordinance."

"It's only a few months until the Lok Sabha elections, so BJP suddenly realised the Ram Mandir. The Indian citizens have understood this political strategy. And whatever all the seers and their supporters, RSS, VHP and Shiv Senaare doing in Ayodhya is all the planning and plotting of BJP. This is a way to divert attention," she added

The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in the past has even refused to join hands with Congress in the state of Chhattisgarh stating that she is ready to sit in opposition, and will not join hands with either Congress or BJP, if her gathbandhan with Ajit Jogi doesn't get the majority.

Continuing her attack on the Congress party on November 16, Mayawati went onto state that they, along with BJP,  have failed to support the oppressed and lower caste.

"The Congress party did nothing for the downtrodden and the lower caste people. But BJP is also not far behind. Both these parties go hand in hand where the poor and downtrodden are concerned," she added.
