Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad slammed the Congress party as it continues to criticise the government over its abrogation of Article 370. Speaking to Republic TV, the law minister said that the step is taken as per nation's unity and the Congress party's irresponsible statements is not taking into account the injustice that the people of the state of J&K bore under the Article 370.

"This statement is irresponsible and it is made to provoke people. So many have been killed in Kashmir in last 70 years. Is it not the true that Faiyaz Khan was kidnapped and killed, is it not true that Aurangzeb who was a brave soldier of Kashmir rifles was killed by terrorists. What is Chidambaram talking about? This step is taken for the benefit of all Kashmirirs because under the name of 370, Muslims of KAshmir were also suffering and facing injustice. Gujjar Bakerwal adivasis tribals no one got reservation. And what law is this that if a Muslim daughter of the valeey marries muslim boy from anywhere in the rest of India then she is not given her rights over the property? Can he answer this? This decision to abrogate Article 370 is in favour of the development of people of Jammu and Kashmir, people of India and nation's unit," the law minister said.

P Chidambaram's statement on Kashmir:

Former union minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday lambasted the BJP for abrogation of Article 370, saying the saffron party would not have "snatched away" the special status had Jammu and Kashmir been a Hindu-dominated state. Alleging that BJP revoked the Article with its "muscle power",  he said the situation in Jammu and Kashmir was unstable and that international news agencies were covering the unrest, but not Indian media houses.

"...They (BJP) claim Kashmir is stable. Is it? Does it mean stable if Indian media houses don't cover the unrest in J&K?" He also took potshots at seven regional parties ruling in seven states, saying they did not cooperate against the BJP's move in the Rajya Sabha out of "fear". Expressing dissatisfaction over non-cooperation of opposition parties, Chidambaram said, "I know we do not have majority in Lok Sabha, but had the seven parties (AIADMK, YSRCP, TRS, BJD, AAP, TMC, JDU) cooperated, the opposition would have been in majority in RS. This is something disappointing,"

Eid celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir:

Meanwhile, the festival of Eid is being celebrated peacefully in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, together with the security forces. This is the first Eid celebrated in the state after abrogation of Article 370. Even as opposition claimed that people of the valley is going through brutality by the forces, pictures, videos and updates from the government suggests otherwise.

NSA Ajit Doval celebrates Eid with locals

As Eid-al-Adha is being celebrated nationwide, NSA Ajit Doval is in Srinagar to celebrate the festival with the locals. Doval who is in the state to review security situation after Article 370 has abrogated, will meet the locals. He will later brief the media. The government has been issuing statements, videos and pictures of normalcy in the state even as the Opposition continues to accuse that abrogation of special status of the state has brought life to halt in the valley.
