A war broke out between a Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and a party worker at Etah in Uttar Pradesh on 9 August. The General Secretary of the SP was attacked by a party worker with a shoe and despite attempting to defend himself, the leader was thrashed by the attacker.
Visuals of the incident have been accessed and it reveals the party worker attempting to whack the leader with a shoe, with other party workers trying to contain him. Even as the leader tried to protect himself with his own shoe, the party worker is seen delivering two-three blows to the leader before being held by the other party workers.
The Samajwadi Party had organized a protest against the state government across all the zillas in the state on 9 August, during which the attack occurred in Etah. The party leader and worker Omveer had an altercation following which the shoe-fight ensued.
Two party lawmakers from Uttar Pradesh engaged in a shameful brawl and hit each other with fists and shoes at an official meeting earlier this year. During a meeting for a project in Uttar Pradesh's Sant Kabir Nagar, BJP MP Sharad Tripathi and MLA Rakesh Baghel exchanged blows after an argument broke out over the placement of names on a foundation stone of a project.
The incident took place during a meeting of the District Action Plan Committee at the Collectorate in front of a number of other party members who were attending the meeting. The scuffle broke out after BJP MP Sharad Tripathi asked why his name was not mentioned on the foundation stone. BJP MLA Rakesh Baghel revealed that it was his decision.
The visuals show BJP leader Sharad Tripathi attacking his colleague Rakesh Singh with a shoe during a public meeting after a heated war of words. The argument turned ugly as the two leaders got into jostling, pushing each other and ultimately fisticuff. Sharad Tripathi hit Rakesh Baghel with his shoe to which he retaliated by slapping the MP.
Even as the police present during the meeting tried to control the situation, the lawmakers kept on fighting.
