Sarcasm And Biting Attacks In Tow, Lalu Family Roars To Life Amid Opposition Momentum

Hack:

  • The family of Lalu Prasad Yadav has launched political attacks at their opponents
  • While Tejashwi has led the line, Lalu and Tej Pratap have also got involved in their own way
  • In recent times, the family has been encumbered by corruption convictions and personal troubles

With the Opposition and particularly the Congress showing signs of stirring following the recent assembly election results, the RJD's top brass have also roared in acknowledgement, seemingly putting their individual travails aside to take on the BJP and PM Modi, and sending a message to the people.

Tejashwi has been, by and large, leading the party in terms of politics over the last year following his father Lalu Prasad being sent to jail after convictions in multiple Fodder Scam cases and his subsequent health issues, as well as his elder brother Tej Pratap's personal troubles. He led the attack, seemingly taking a sarcastic dig at the ruling dispensation over every year since and including 2014 being 'great'.

Meanwhile, his father and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has taken on the Prime Minister directly over the events in Rae Bareli over the weekend, where the latter headlined the flag off ceremony of the 900th coach and Humsafar Rake of Modern Coach Factory. In response to PM Modi's remarks over the weekend about how railway manufacturing in Sonia Gandhi's Lok Sabha constituency hadn't reached its potential, Lalu Prasad essentially accused him of taking credit for the work of others, in this case him.

"As a Railway Minister, I had given 2 factories in Bihar & One in UP. PM Modi has revisited these already fully operational sites just to put his name there with lame excuses to score brownie points. Modi Ji, Why don’t you do something new in your tenure?"

And to bolster their endeavours, Tej Pratap Yadav, who was most recently in the news over marital troubles and before that over an alleged spat with his brother Tejashwi, also turned up at the party headquarters and interacted with workers, announcing his return to formal politics:

Tejashwi is expected to be present at the oath-taking ceremony of at least one Chief Minister in the three states won by the Congress in the recent polls. He was similarly present at the oath-taking of Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy earlier this year where the Opposition's revival had first begun.
