While there is significant speculation about the BJP trying to pull Rajinikanth into their alliance, which is very premature, Congress' Delhi representative & Tamil Nadu in-charge Sanjay Dutt expressed the opinion that Kamal Haasan can meet with Congress high command once since the ideologies of Congress and DMK are similar to his MNM party which was launched at the start of the year by the actor-turned-politician.

Speculation about Kamal Haasan joining the Congress alliance began when Kamal Haasan met Rahul Gandhi in Delhi a few months back after launching his party but at that time Haasan was non-committal and said that it was just a courtesy meet.

The alliance between Congress & DMK is been confirmed now after the latter party's working president, MK Stalin, himself proposed the name of Congress president Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Ministerial candidate.

Kamal Haasan had earlier said that his party is ready to align with the Congress if they snap their ties with the DMK, which is unlikely to happen.

The statement by the Congress leader has created some kind of discomfort to DMK. DMK senior leader & Rajya Sabha MP TKS Elangovan who spoke to Republic TV said that "DMK is leading the UPA alliance in the state, So Kamal Haasan should approach us if they want to join the alliance & not Congress. Let him give a try if he wants".

DMK president MK Stalin who spoke to the media on Tuesday also said that he cannot answer on speculation, when asked about this attempt by the Congress, revealing that the DMK is not interested in roping MNM into the fray.

TKS Elangovan also said that Kamal Haasan hasn't himself in politics & hence they don't know what kind of political base he has as of now. The BJP, on the other hand, says that the Congress is desperate to pull all the parties against Narendra Modi and Kamal Haasan joining in UPA cannot create any kind of impact.

It remains to be seen whether the political equation between DMK & the Congress will be changed to entertain Kamal's MNM into its fold for 2019. However, political analysts feel it'll be a very big political gamble for Congress to compromise DMK & include MNM when they have never tested their political strength.
