According to the Saamana newspaper on Monday, Congress and NCP have sent letters of support to the Shiv Sena for the formation of government in Maharashtra. Saamana is the mouthpiece of the Sena. Earlier, sources contended that Shiv Sena leaders conveyed to Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari that Uddhav Thackeray would be the next Chief Minister of the state. Monday has witnessed a series of meetings of the Congress Working Committee as well as the core group of NCP. Uddhav Thackeray also spoke to Congress president Sonia Gandhi over the phone. On Sunday, the BJP refused the Governor's invite to form the government as they did not have the numbers. On the other hand, Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has repeatedly hinted at exploring an alliance with Congress and NCP.
