SENSATIONAL: Prefer Elections To "unholy Alliance", Says J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik On His Big Decision

Justifying his decision to dissolve the Assembly in Jammu and Kashmir in a statement, Governor Satya Pal Malik reiterated that the alliance between former rivals’ PDP, NC and that of Congress is ‘unholy,’ something that wouldn't have ‘even lasted for four days.’

Defying a government formed on fear and pressure, Malik said that he would rather have elections than allowing this alliance to destabilize the state with their malpractices.

He said, "I'm not in a favor of a government that is formed on fear, pressure, and horse-trading. I would rather have elections, where the elected government is chosen and they run their state. I've been hearing complaints of horse-trading and fear being instilled in MLAs, Mehebooba Mufti herself has told me about her MLAs being threatened. The other Party had complained of money being distributed. Having known all of these things, I could not have done this, giving someone an opportunity only allowing them to destabilize the state. When our forces are putting their lives on a stake and conducting elections, people are voting in masses."

He claimed that his decision is absolutely unbiased and in favor of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,  "Once they realized things are slipping from their hands, they came to me with this unholy alliance. I have not been partial to any party, I have not sided with either of them, but I'm on the side of the people of Jammu and Kashmir."

The decision to dissolve the Assembly came right after the former state Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti shared a letter to the Raj Bhavan, seeking claim to form a government with PDP, NC, and the Congress. After the act, the opposition has accused the Governor and BJP of trying to ‘murder the democracy’ with this ‘unconstitutional’ move.

But the Governor believes he had to dissolve the assembly given the three parties coming together were not 'like-minded' while adding that the step was important to take.

He said, "They are creating noise now. From the past 5 months, they were telling me to dissolve the assembly. But I was just against it because with the dissolution of the Assembly MLAs will not get funds to work in favor of people of J&K. But now, from the past one week, there was a serious thing of horse trading going on. Even Mehbooba said that there are people who wants to break her party. There is nothing common between them (NC and PDP).  They will not be able to run the govt even for four days. That's why I dissolved the assembly. They are power hungry. They wanted to dissolve this assembly only. My staff was not there yesterday. It's wrong that they are saying I intentionally did not meet them."
