Shatrughan Sinha, Urmila Matondkar, Nagma and others grieve 3-time Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit's loss

The sudden death of 3-time Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in Delhi on Saturday sent shockwaves across the country. As tributes poured in following the tragic news, several actors-Congress leaders like Shatrughan Sinha, Urmila Matondkar, Nagma and Khushbu Sundar also mourned the loss of the veteran politician.

The sudden death of 3-time Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in Delhi on Saturday sent shockwaves across the country. As tributes poured in following the tragic news, several actors-Congress leaders like Shatrughan Sinha, Urmila Matondkar, Nagma and Khushbu Sundar also mourned the loss of the veteran politician.

Expressing feelings of being ‘shell shocked’ and ‘extremely saddened’, the actor-politicians conveyed their condolences to her bereaved family. 

They termed Dikshit as ‘one of the most popular, loved, admired & respected leaders’, ‘a great administrator’, a ‘true daughter of the Congress’ while lauding her 'strength, determination,fierce and yet kind personality.' The celebrities also credited her as a ‘successful CM of Delhi’ for making the city ‘more beautiful than ever’ and ‘bringing it to its glory.’

Earlier, Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and the Gandhi siblings, Rahul, Priyanka mourned the loss of veteran Congress leader.

Singh said, "I'm shocked to hear the sudden passing away of Smt Sheila Dixit. In her death, the country has lost a dedicated Congress leader of the masses. People of Delhi will always remember her contribution to Delhi's development during her tenure as CM for 3 terms."

Congress leaders Capt. Amarinder Singh, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Ahmed Patel, Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot, also shared their grief on the leader's passing away.

Dikshit was 81. Informing about the cause of her demise, Dr Ashok Seth the director of Escorts Fortis where her treatment was going on said that she suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away at 03:55 PM. 

Dikshit was the longest-serving Chief Minister of Delhi, serving for a period of 15 years from 1998 to 2013. Dikshit led Congress party to three consecutive electoral victories in Delhi. Subsequently, she was sworn in as Governor of Kerala on 11 March 2014 and served for five months. The Congress party fought the recent Lok Sabha elections in Delhi under her leadership.
