Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Sunday attacked his former alliance partner JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy for treating him as an "enemy" and blamed him for the slump of Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the state.  "HD Kumaraswamy never treated me as a friend or confidant, but instead considered me as an enemy and that led to all the problems," the Siaddaramaiah told the media persons in Mysore. The war of words between the two leaders has been going on unabatedly since July after their 14-months long turbulent coalition government lost the vote of confidence in Karnataka Assembly. Kumaraswamy was the chief minister then and quit his post after losing the no-confidence motion.

War of words between Siddaramaiah and Kumaraswamy clan

Siddaramaiah had earlier held former Prime Minister Deve Gowda, father of former HD Kumaraswamy, responsible for the collapse of the government. His rebuttal came in the light of accusations levelled by Gowda, who said that the former wanted to make BJP leader BS Yediyurappa the chief minister instead of his son Kumaraswamy, adding that the two had worked together in the past. Meanwhile, BS Yediyurappa, after taking over the post of CM, faced criticism of running a one-man cabinet. BJP chief Amit Shah had approved the cabinet expansion for the Karnataka government around mid-August.

After losing CM post, HD Kumaraswamy says will quit politics

Weeks after the collapse of the 14-month-old Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka, former CM HD Kumaraswamy had said he is thinking of leaving politics. Speaking to media, the JD(S) leader said that he is thinking of going away from politics, adding that he entered politics and became CM "accidentally". "I'm thinking of going away from politics, I came to politics accidentally. I became CM accidentally, God gave me the opportunity to become CM twice."

Fall of Siddaramaiah-Kumaraswamy led coalition

In July, the Congress-JD(S) coalition government failed the floor test making way for the BJP to form the government in the state. BJP's Yediyurappa took oath as the CM of Karnataka for the fourth time after the party proved its majority in the floor of the assembly. The BJP won the trust vote on Tuesday by garnering 105 votes in comparison to JD(S)-Congress' combined total of 99 votes. The power tussle had culminated after a long drawn political drama that began from Karnataka and later spread to Mumbai and Delhi after a few MLAs  from Congress and JD(S) rebelled against the coalition.
