Reacting to the recent development in over a week-long drama in Maharashtra over government formation, Dr. Subramanian Swamy, Rajya Sabha MP from BJP, appealed to the BJP to reunite with Shiv Sena for the cause of Hindutva. Later when Shiv Sena decided to part ways from the NDA in order to gain the support of the NCP and Congress for government formation in Maharashtra, Swamy said, “it's a sad day, BJP will regret letting go of another Hindutva party. The post of Chief Minister shouldn't be given such importance that we lose on our NDA partner".

Adding further the BJP MP from Rajya Sabha said, “BJP leadership in Maharashtra could have adjusted, they are losing out on an important state, the financial capital of the country. This is going to be encrypted in the history as for the second time, BJP and Shiv Sena could not work it out".

Dr. Subramanian Swamy also lashed out at Shiv Sena for joining hands with parties like NCP and Congress for the sake of power. “Sena is cozying up to such a party who is a Pakistan sympathiser, full of corrupt people and where the leadership is in question. For the sake of Hindutva, Sena could have been a bit tolerant," he said.

'Sena has betrayed people's mandate'- Chandrakant Patil

Shiv Sena Union minister Arvind Sawant will be stepping down today from his position, which will mark the end of Shiv Sena's alliance within NDA. Addressing a press conference after meeting the governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, BJP leader Chandrakant Patil declared that they would not form the government in Maharashtra. He stated that Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena can stake claim to form the government and also accused Sena of betraying the mandate of the people of Maharashtra.

"In the elections, BJP, RPI, Sena and other parties were given a mandate. Yesterday, the governor invited the BJP to form the government. We fought for the alliance, got votes for the alliance. Sena does not want to be part of the alliance. Sena chose to insult the mandate. We won't form the government. We informed the governor. If Sena has to go with NCP, Congress, we wish them good luck," Patil stated.
