The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister slammed Kamal Haasan and questioned Rajinikanth on political grounds after his party's victory in the by-polls. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami seems more confident after the victory in the recent by-polls in both the constituencies, pushing DMK to the second place with a good margin. Hence, the AIADMK has also decided to contest the upcoming local body polls with the same alliance which was formed in the parliamentary elections. Political analysts also feel that the confidence level of the AIADMK and chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami has increased drastically after the win in the Vikravandi and Nanguneri by-polls.

'He doesn't know what politics is'

Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan who started his party in May 2018 has been criticizing the ruling AIADMK in many issues, starting from the governance to its policy decisions. Kamal, in fact, criticized the AIADMK government during the 2015 Chennai floods, when Jayalalithaa was the Chief Minister which became a controversy. Recently, Chief Minister Edappadi has slammed the Maiam leader Kamal Haasan which was merely like an insulting statement.

The CM said, "Why didn't he (Kamal) contest in the by-polls which happened, he is a big leader right? How many votes did he get in the parliamentary elections? These are all planned. He has become old, around 65 and there are no opportunities in the film for him and hence, everyone has got right to start a political party, but criticising others is not acceptable, he doesn't know what politics it at all, we are in politics since 1974, climbed step by step and reached this place."

Rajinikanth questioned in a softer tone

Meanwhile, the same Chief Minister questioned Rajinikanth in a softer tone. When reporters asked the Chief Minister about Rajinikanth saying that there is a leadership vacuum in Tamil Nadu, EPS said "There is no vacuum in Tamilnadu and the recent by-poll results reflect that. Is Rajinikanth the leader of some political party? He is just an actor." Anyone can clearly distinguish between these two statements about two different stars by the Chief Minister. Rajinikanth was seen as a person who was close to the BJP but the recent statement of Rajinikanth about the BJP and saffron has definitely shocked the BJP supporters and their ally AIADMK. Rajinikanth said, "Some people are trying to give me BJP color like how they gave it to Thiruvallur, neither I nor Thiruvallur will fall for it." This statement clearly shows how he is trying to distance himself from the BJP. Rajinikanth has been endorsing the stand of the Tamil Nadu government and the vice versa was happening in the recent past in many issues. But things have changed after the recent statement of the superstar and the Chief Minister is directly questioning Rajinikanth with a soft stand which has never happened before.
