Amid the increasing death toll in Bihar due to Encephalitis outbreak, several fingers were raised on the disappearance of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav in the crisis. However, on Saturday, Tejashwi Yadav took to Twitter to inform his "friends" about the reason his sabbatical from the political discourse.
In a series of tweets, the RJD leader has informed that he was "busy undergoing treatment for his long-delayed ligament and ACL injury for the past couple of weeks". Taking a dig at his political opponents who raised questions over his absence, Yadav said that he's "amused to see political opponents as well as a section of media cooking up spicy stories".
The ACL injury is infamous for its frequent occurrence in the world of sports. Notably, Tejashwi Yadav is a former cricketer who previously played for the IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils and one Ranji Trophy game for Jharkhand among other events.
In another tweet, Tejashwi Yadav said he's "very much" in the state, adding that the recent developments have helped him study, scrutinize, analyse and appraise the things in a different way".
In this third tweet, the former Deputy CM of Bihar said that he is "constantly following up the untimely loss of hundreds of poor kids due to AES". He added that he also asked the party workers to visit affected families without getting into Photo-OP and MPs to raise it in Parliament, which is why he stated that PM Modi responded to the outbreak in the Lower House.
"My Dear Bihar!I am very much here," he tweeted.
Further, Tejashwi said that "since it's birth, RJD has been at the centre of poor peoples’ struggle and that position is not lost only because of an electoral defeat".
This development has come days after a senior RJD leader Raghuvansh Pratap Singh had taunted on the disappearance of Tejashwi Yadav saying that "RJD netas must have gone to World Cup", amid the rising Encephalitis death toll in Bihar.
"I don't know where they are. I am assuming that because World Cup is going on so maybe they have gone to watch the Cricket World Cup," Singh had said taunting Yadav.
Furthermore, posters were put up in the state, proclaiming that Rs.5100 will be awarded to the person who will spot RJD Tejashwi Yadav in Bihar's Muzaffarpur.
PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke about the health crisis in Bihar owing to the encephalitis outbreak which has claimed over 200 lives so far during his reply to the 'Motion Of Thanks On the President's Address' in the Rajya Sabha.
"The deaths in Bihar due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome are unfortunate and a matter of shame for us," PM Modi had said.
The Nitish Kumar government has faced severe flak for its mismanagement and lack of accountability for the crisis.
