Drawing attention to the Mallya and Michel case, Jaitley extensively addressed both of these cases. The Finance Minister claimed that the BJP government is keen to bring Vijay Mallya back who is on has a court case running at its last leg. He said that the government is persistent and has tried multiple ways to bring Mallya back.

"The government is extremely keen to get back Mallya, and other's hiding in different countries. Mostly in England, but they have their due processes of law and we are following those laws and i'm quite hopeful we'll succeed. This can't be decided on emotions but policies of those countries. This government has tried every measure, including diplomacy and legal process with all countries. After all, we've got back more militants either from the UAE or Bangladesh or Myanmar," he said.

"Vijay Mallya's case is at the last stage in an English court. The government through its investigation agencies has been pursuing it vigorously," he added.

Speaking of Christian Michel, involved in the AgustaWestland chopper scam case, Jaitley insinuated that a process is on-going in Dubai, "The last word has not been spoken, it's going through a process in Dubai and at the culmination of the process, we have to wait for the result."

While interacting about these two personalities, currently fled out of India, Jaitley blamed the UPA government under whom both these scams occurred.

The Union Minister said, "When were the Mallya loans given? In the UPA. He defaulted once and thereafter they gave him a second re-structuring. And that entire money disappeared."

"We have the responsibility of getting back somebody who conspired to cheat our banks during the UPA. It is our responsibility to get somebody from the UAE for a scam that occurred during the UPA. And therefore the UPA hardly has the moral authority to say that we are guilty," he added.
