Tamil Nadu chief minister E Palaniswami on Sunday called DMK's MK Stalin and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu 'chameleons', unleashing a blistering attack days after the two regional leaders met in Chennai.

The CM said that since both DMK and Naidu's party the TDP had been in coalition been with the BJP, and have changed alliance before the 2019 polls, they are acting like 'chameleons'.

"DMK is like a chameleon. They were with BJP earlier but now term BJP as communal & untouchable. N Chandrababu Naidu was with BJP for the past 4 years. Now, just before the elections, AP CM has changed his stand, so he is also a chameleon," Palaniswami said.

Naidu recently split with the BJP government in power saying the Centre did not fulfill the promise to provide special status to Andhra Pradesh and did not follow the provisions after the bifurcation of the state into Andhra and Telangana.

The DMK was in an alliance with the party in power in 1999 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the PM. They later joined hands with the Congress in 2004 when the party, then led by Sonia Gandhi, won the polls and formed the UPA.

With the agenda of 'save democracy' by forming a coalition against BJP, Naidu met Stalin on Thursday in Chennai where the DMK party chief announced his support to the Mahagatbandhan.

Naidu has also been seeking the support of Congress and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee to join the anti-BJP multiparty force. He is holding a meeting to pull together a coalition of parties who oppose the BJP on November 22.

"I appeal all parties opposing BJP to join us. We want to create an anti-BJP platform. We want to have one meeting in Delhi. We'll discuss issues and then chalk out a programme & take the issues forward. That's the agenda. The meeting's tentative date is 22nd November." he said.

Naidu has also dared AIMIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi to choose between the BJP and the anti-BJP alliance.

The Tamil Nadu CM's remarks come even as his party is facing flak over demanding censorship for the movie 'Sarkar'.
