Shortly after Haji Mehmood, a Sunni litigant in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir dispute, called out the Sunni Waqf Board's own counsel Kapil Sibal, Mehmood spoke to Republic TV's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami.

On Sibal's submission to the Supreme Court that the case must only be heard after the 2019 general elections, Mehmood said that he was absolutely not satisfied.

"I want that there be hearings on this everyday. If the court hasn't taken papers from both sides yet, that's okay, but if it decides quickly, I'll be happy. I don't want any disturbance and conflict in the country."

Mehmood went on to deny that his group had anything to do with Kapil Sibal assertion. He then fervently opposed politicisation of the matter.

When asked about the potential fallout of any verdict, Mehmood said:

"If the court gives the correct verdict, there'll be no disturbances. If the government is strong, there'll be no disurbance."

He proceeded to lavish praise on the Prime Minister

"The way Modiji is fighting like a 'Jahbaaz Sipahi' (fearless soldier), there'll be no disturbance. He's not the Modiji of earlier. He now wants justice, he wants that everyone benefit."
