Trinamool follows Congress to Sonbhadra, Derek O'Brien says 'Detained by UP Police at Varanasi airport'

The TMC took to Twitter and said that its delegation was detained at the Varanasi airport while they were on their way to Sonbhadra. Mamata Banerjee's party alleged that the Police said that they are acting 'as told from topmost'

A day after Congress Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was detained by Uttar Pradesh Police as she was on her way to Sonbhadra where ten people were shot dead, TMC delegation also decided to paradrop, making the incident political. However, the TMC took to Twitter and said that its delegation wa detained at the Varanasi airport. The TMC delegation comprises of Derek O'Brien, Sunil Mondal, Abir Ranjan Biswas and Uma Saren.

Taking to Twitter, Mamata Banerjee's party claimed that the ADM and the SP has not informed under which sections they are being detained. They also alleged that the Police said that they are acting 'as told from topmost'. Trinamool's Derek O Brien also said that the party delegation will cooperate and they will procede to Sonbhadra soon. Here is the tweet:

In an unprecedented incident, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was also detained in Uttar Pradesh's Narayanpur on Friday while she was on her way to Sonbhadra  shootout over a land dispute killed 10. Initially, she was stopped mid-way to Sonbhadra in Narayanpur by the UP Police, following which she staged a dharna, along with other Congress leaders. Speaking to media, she said that she just want to meet the families of the victims of Sonbhadra firing incident, alleging that the UP administration is not allowing her to go. She added that she will sit on dharna peacefully. She also targeted the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in the state over rising crime and lawlessness in UP.

"Just want to go and meet families of victims(Sonbhadra firing case), I even said will take only 4 people with me. Yet administration is not letting us go there. They should tell us why we are being stopped. We will continue to sit here peacefully," Vadra said speaking to news agency ANI.

Minutes later the dharna, the Congress General Secretary was taken to a Guest House by the police after she was stopped on her way to meet victims of firing case in Sonbhadra, in the light of the section 144 imposed in the area.  "They can do whatever they want. We have come here only to meet the family peacefully. I don't know where we ar being taken," she said speaking to reporter after being detained.

Speaking over the incident on Friday, UP CM Yogi Adityanath assured that strict action will be taken against the accused in the matter. 

"29 criminals arrested till now, a single barrel gun, 3 double-barrel guns and a rifle have been seized. Whoever is found responsible for this incident, strictest action will be taken against them," he said.
