Dismissing the claims of the UP government that the truck responsible for the Unnao rape survivor's accident in Rae Bareli belonged to an SP leader, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, on Tuesday, asked how inspite having power how can the government blame someone else? He added that in the Sonbhadra incident the government blamed Nehru for creating the issue while addressing reporters outside the Lucknow Hospital where the survivor is battling for life.
"BJP government can say anything. If you are quoting the government, then tell me that during the Sonbhadra incident why was Nehru blamed? When you have the power in the government, how can you blame someone else? You cannot trust the UP Chief Minister. Everything is happening with his knowledge. Samajwadi Party is with the family since day one. We have met them on the first day, " he said.
Slamming the government for inaction, he pointed out that Uttar Pradesh has given the BJP government it's Prime Minister Modi, (former)Home Minister Rajnath Singh and President Kovind.
"If the aunts have died and the victim and her lawyer are in critical condition, then who is responsible? BJP should not forget that this Uttar Pradesh has given it India's Prime Minister and the President. This incident has occurred in Lucknow when the Home Minister was here. Then why is the government not probing into this situation?" he added.
Earlier in the day, sources told Republic TV that the truck that smashed the car of the Unnao rape survivor allegedly belonged to a Samajwadi Party leader Nandu Pal. Pal is an SP leader is from Fatehpur district unit and his wife Ramashree Pal was elected as Asothar Block Pramukh on SP ticket. His three brothers Devendra Pal, Munna Pal & Dilip Pal allegedly owns 27 trucks, as per inputs.
After the UP Police named Unnao rape accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar and his 29 associates in the FIR charging them of conspiracy to murder, in connection with the accident on Monday, the UP government has recommended a CBI probe into the accident.
In a shocking revelation in the Unnao rape victim accident, Republic TV on Monday has accessed a letter written by the victim's mother on July 13, to the UP Police detailing the threats she and her family are facing.
She has claimed that a couple of individuals stating that they would file a counter case of bribery against the victim and her family ensuring that they will rot in jail if they do not take back the rape case filed against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar. The victim's mother also claims that she received continuous threats on July 7 and 8.
Meanwhile, the victim and her lawyer who are in critical condition have been put on ventilator. The victim has suffered a fracture on her leg and a head injury, as shared by the Trauma Center's media-in-charge.
Earlier on Sunday, a car in which the survivor of the Unnao rape case, her family and lawyer were traveling was hit by an over-speeding truck in Rae Bareli on Sunday, killing two members while leaving her and her advocate critically injured, police said.
The family was allegedly visiting the Unnao rape victim's uncle, who is currently in Raebareli jail. The police are currently investigating the circumstance under which the accident has occurred. Sources also report that a truck had allegedly hit the victim's car, and the truck driver has allegedly fled from the site.
UP DGP OP Singh, speaking to reporters, assured that the probe into the road accident would be free and fair and that as per primary information it was purely due to overspeeding of the truck, the driver and owner of which have been arrested.
In terms of the security not being present, the DGP said that there was no negligence, rather, that the victim had allegedly requested the security personnel to not accompany her because there was a lack of space in her vehicle.
