Amid the speculations over Uttar Pradesh Congress workers' demand to choose Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as party's chief ministerial face for the state, senior BJP leader and Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has suggested the Grand Old Party to first mend its current situation following the 2019 poll debacle then think about the post of CM.
"Party main (unclear) champuo ki bohot badi jamal hai. Ab wo CM kya PM bhi banane ki maang ho sakti hai. Lekin abhi unhe jo Congress party ke khasta haal hai, usko theek karne ki zarurat hai. CM-PM ke sapne ki baad main baat hai (There are a lot of blind followers in the party. Now why only CM, they can demand post of PM as well. But first they must improve their current situation, then dream about the post of CM-PM," said the BJP leader speaking in the matter.
Sources have told that the UP Congress workers have urged the party to elect Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as Chief Minister face for the 2022 state elections in the state. However, Priyanka has not yet responded to the demands of the workers.
The party workers have also said that they don't want any alliance with any regional party or Gathbandhan party for the state elections.
This development came on Wednesday during the visit of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka to Raebareli where Congress workers from 42 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh had assembled at Bhueamau Guest House.
The newly-elected General Secretary for UP (East) was touted to be a trump card for Congress in Lok Sabha elections did not contest the elections amid high-pitched speculation over her contest against PM Narendra Modi from Varanasi.
While the Congress party failed miserably to make its place in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the biggest embarrassment the Grand Old Party faced with the loss of its president Rahul Gandhi defeat from Amethi by Smriti Irani.
