Former Congress loyalist and now BJP leader Tom Vadakkan has slammed Sam Pitroda for his comments relating to the Pulwama terror attack and its aftermath, and suggested Congress president Rahul Gandhi endorses the remarks by his guru (Pitroda).
Speaking to Republic TV, Vadakkan, formerly a close aide of the Gandhis who had left the party earlier this month, felt that Congress chief's silence on the comments by an insider is like a tribute to the neighboring country on its national day.
"In public domain, proximity is well known (Sam Pitroda and Rahul Gandhi).....If his (Rahul Gandhi) guru says it, that's the thought. And that's the very thought which I opposed....This is the Pak national day. This is the biggest tribute any Indian can do to the Pakistanis who have created all this trail of deaths. Our bravehearts have died and sacrificed for what?" he said.
The BJP leader then sarcastically mocked Pitroda for saying that Pakistan as a nation cannot be blamed for the terrorists who were perpetrators of Pulwama, and even 26/11 Mumbai attack.
"It's not Pakistan? Oh I am sure its aliens from space who are training these terrorists. These terrorists are manufactured products of Pak, mentored and funded by them and sent to the Indian borders. That is the reality...." Vadakkan added.
On Friday, in a series of comments, Congress' international chief and a close aide of Rahul Gandhi, Sam Pitroda had stoked controversy by stating that attacks like Pulwama happen 'all the time', and that IAF's airstrike on JeM's terror camps were not needed.
"Don’t know much about attacks, it happens all the time. An attack happened in Mumbai also. We could have then reacted and just sent our planes but that is not right approach. According to me, that is not how you deal with the world. Eight people (26/11 terrorists) come and do something, you don’t jump on the entire nation (Pakistan). Naive to assume that just because some people came here and attacked, every citizen of that nation is to be blamed. I don’t believe in that way," said Sam Pitroda as quoted by news agency ANI.
