Amid the ongoing furore in Karnataka Congress, wife of Vijayawada MLA Anand Singh, who had to be hospitalised after being injured in an alleged brawl with party legislator J N Ganesh, threatened to take legal action against the errant MLA. Hours after the threat, Congress MLA JN Ganesh apologized for his actions and reiterated that there is not scuffle between the party MLAs in the state.
"The high command has asked us to comprise and not to bicker among ourselves. There is no problem between us. We have come to an understanding. If their family is hurt, I would like to apologize to them. When we sat down for discussion, Bheema Nayak and Anand Singh indulged in a heated debate, but when I did not agree with their statements, it became an argument. We are all together. I don't want to comment on who had consumed alcohol. The high command has made it clear that we should not do anything that will embarrass the party. I will do everything that my party asked me to do," he said while addressing reporters on Monday.
Congress' Anand Singh was hospitalised on early Sunday morning after an alleged brawl between him and Kampli MLA Ganesh, both from Ballari district, at the Eagleton Resort in Bengaluru. Ganesh is among the disgruntled Congress MLAs who was reportedly in touch with other dissidents in the party and was on BJP's radar in its alleged toppling game.
Earlier on Monday, Republic TV accessed medical report of hospitalized MLA Anand Singh which revealed intrinsic details of the severe injuries including "a black eye and several other bruises" suffered by him in the aftermath of the fight. Reports have also alleged that Ganesh smashed Anand Singh with a glass bottle amid the scuffle.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders had denied the whole incident, after which they termed it as a “friendly fight", alleging that all was well between the leaders in the party.
