Congress has responded to Rahul Gandhi using his phone and speaking in the Parliament on Thursday during President Ram Nath Kovind's speech.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi was seen busy using phone during President Ram Nath Kovind's speech addressing the joint session of the Lok Sabha. He even spoke to his mother and Congress chairperson during the speech asking her to stop applauding the President's speech when he talked about surgical strikes
Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma talked about the charges of the Congress president being disrespectful saying, "He was listening to what was important, there were certain queries about certain Hindi words which were not heard clearly. There was no disrespect on his part. I think it is very frivolous of the party to make such a comment. If the footage is taken half of the BJP president will be seen talking to each other."
Sharma also said that the President's speech was not of much significance to the Congress.
"Today's speech by the President in the parliament just repeats the government's announcements until now. We don't think it is important to give today's speech much significance," he said.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi created a protocol error as the members of the 17th Lok Sabha took oath into office. He forgot to sign the register after taking the oath, before being called back to do the needful.
Visuals show that after being called upon to take oath into office, Rahul Gandhi proceeds to between the aisle amidst cheers. While an official stands up to remind him to sign the register, Gandhi is seen hurrying towards the podium to administer his oath. After swearing-in, he is seen proceeding back to his seat, before being called back to sign his name in the register. After signing his name, Gandhi then proceeds to shake the hand of Brijbhushan Sharan Singh who occupied the speaker's chair.
