Amid the revolt in Karnataka Congress by senior leader Ramalinga Reddy who blamed his party leadership of sidelining other senior leaders, Congress leader and minister in CM HD Kumaraswamy's government DK Shivakumar has refused to respond in the matter.
On being confronted over the internal tensions within Congress after Ramalinga Reddy blamed the leadership for the party's defeat in the 2019 General Elections, DK Shivakumar said that Congres president Rahul Gandhi and other senior members will respond to it since they have been asked to not react on this.
"I don't want to react anything on this. Congress president and the leaders will react to this. We have been asked not to react to this," Shivakumar said,
On Tuesday morning, former Karnataka Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy wrote an open letter lasing out at Congress leadership over the party's loss in the elections.
He said that the party suffered a poor defeat in the Lok Sabha elections due to the lack of the Congress Party's elderly presence in the state government and the lack of organizational vision of some Congress ministers.
He further said that the party's leading members and supervisors of the state have stumbled on party's internal problem, adding that the coalition government of Congress-JD(S) also lost electoral passion due to lack of communication.
Suggesting that senior leaders of the Congress have to negotiate with the party to represent the elderly in the government, he added that the elders need to be careful not to leave anyone.
In a setback to the ruling Congress-JD(S) coalition in Karnataka in 2019 elections, the BJP swept 25 parliamentary constituencies out of a total of 28, leaving Congress to one seat.
