Anurag Thakur showed up dressed in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's merchandise while on his way to the Parliament on Tuesday.

Wearing a hoodie that said "NaMo again", Thakur spoke to media about the Modi government's decision

"This is a historic announcement. Poor people will be able to avail the benefits of this. We have worked to help the people since the last four-five years. I welcome the 10% reservation announced by the Centre for economically weaker sections of the upper caste. PM Narendra Modi's policies have helped to uplift the poor in the country," he said.

Thakur had also responded on Twitter on the 10% quota for the EWS.

His attire garnered response on Twitter.

The Twitterverse has replied to ANI Editor Smita Prakash's tweet saying:

With the 2019 Lok Sabha elections looming ever closer, the Prime Minister's NaMo app appears to be in the process of transitioning into a central hub for volunteers, on-ground and online, who wish to recreate the 'Modi wave' that swept all before it in 2014.

Apart from the older go-to sections, namely Mann Ki Baat, Exam Warriors, News, Connect with PM, and others, the NaMo app has now been updated with new options for volunteering, purchasing merchandise and making micro-donations.

About the EWS quota proposed by Modi government:

In a massive break-away from caste- and religion- appeasement and in consonance with the idea of keeping economic background as the fulcrum criteria for reservation, the Narendra Modi government has resolved to bring in a constitutional amendment that increases reservation quotas to benefit Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

Sources say that the constitutional amendment which is being brought in by the Modi government will be a gamechanger in terms of reservation policy, especially in a big election year, since it is agnostic of caste and religious considerations.
