After Republic TV broke the story where sources said that Rahul Gandhi was upset with senior leaders of the party as despite him tendering his resignation no senior leader came forward to take the responsibility of the party's failure in the Lok Sabha, Kamal Nath has come forward saying that he is responsible.
Sources told Republic that the Gandhi scion had expressed that he was upset as none of the senior leaders took responsibility of the Lok Sabha drubbing during a meeting with the youth leaders. Now, the revelation appears to have forced senior leaders to take notice and Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath has said that admitting his failure in the Lok Sabha elections.
"Mr Rahul Gandhi is right. I don't know who has but for the debacle at least I had said whatever responsibility that I had for the six months, I had said I am responsible," he said.
Rahul Gandhi had yet again stated that he was resigning but would still continue to work for the party.
Even as the resignation drama continued, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot chaired a meeting with the Congress Legislature Party at his residence on Thursday where the members unanimously decided that he had faith in Rahul's leadership.
In the meeting, the current state of the party was discussed as Rahul Gandhi had offered to resign from his position as Congress chief. However, the Congress Legislature Party in Rajasthan passed a unanimous resolution and expressed faith and confidence in the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress party's youth wing Indian Youth Congress (IYC) had staged demonstrations right outside the residence of Gandhi urging him to continue as the party President. The Kerala Pradesh Mahila Congress had also vouched for his leadership qualities on Wednesday.
