  • Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das attacked the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the Jai Shri Ram controversy
  • He alleged: 'Mamata Banerjee wants to convert West Bengal into Pakistan'

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Monday, June 3, attacked the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee saying that she is intending to turn her state in Pakistan. He was reacting on the recent development in the Jai Shri Ram controversy in the state of West Bengal where Mamata Banerjee had ordered the Kolkata Police to find out the background details of the people who raised the chants, as per sources.

Addressing the party workers at Shikaripara area of Dumka district, Jharkhand CM slammed Banerjee saying:

"In Bengal, the kind of atrocity Mamata didi is doing that you all can see. She is sending those saying Jai Shri Ram to jail. This is the situation there. Where should we say Jai Shri Ram, if not India? Will we say it in Pakistan? Mamata Banerjee wants to convert West Bengal into Pakistan. But people of WB have decided that the Jai Shri Ram government will come to power in the next election. Despite of violence, the kind of work the workers in BJP WB have done under Modi ji's leadership is applaudable, we must learn from it."

On Sunday Mamata Banerjee took to Facebook lashing out at the BJP and the media for reports of her displeasure at sloganeers shouting 'Jai Shri Ram' in West Bengal. She explained that each party has its own slogan and that she did not have any problem with any slogan.

"I have no problem, regarding any particular slogan of political parties in their rallies, and for their party purpose. Every political party has their own slogan. My party has Jai Hind, Vande Mataram. The Left has Inquilab Zindabad. Others have different slogans. We respect each other," she wrote.

Earlier, sources said that the Trinamool chief had ordered the Kolkata Police to find out the background details of the people who raised the chants at her convoy at North 24, Parganas on Thursday. As per sources, Mamata Banerjee wants to know whether the people raising the 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans are outsiders. She had further asked the police to find out the places in Bengal where the sloganeers are residing and figure out the areas in the state where she can run into them during her movement, sources said.

The entire Jai Shri Ram controversy began during the election season when the BJP shared a video alleging that the West Bengal Chief Minister had raged at some people who hurled chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ at her convoy while it was on the way to Chandrakona in West Bengal's Midnapore district. However, Trinamool dismissed the claims saying that the saffron party is "desperate" and added that it is a shame on their desperation to put a spin on a video and create falsehood.
