Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and the 'Mahagathbandhan' during his address to the BJP workers at the Ramlila Maidan in the National Capital.
With just a few months left for the much-awaited Lok Sabha polls, the Prime Minister took the opportunity to coin a new slogan of BJP's 'Majboot Sarkar' vs Mahagathbandhan's 'Majboor Sarkar'.
"This is the first time in the history that everyone is getting together against one man. All of them together will make a 'Majboor Sarkar' (Helpless government). They don't want a 'Majboot sarkar' (Strong government) and their shops to shut again. They want a helpless government so that they can do corruption. The people of this country want a strong government which will end corruption.
"They want a helpless government to benefit their family. The Country wants strong government so that 'Sabka sath, sabka vikas' can take place. They want helpless government so that they can eat up money in defence deals. India wants strong government so that forces' demands can be fulfilled. They want a helpless government so that in farm loan waivers, they can eat up money. The Country wants strong government so that farmers can become strong," he said.
Mahagathbandhan, an alliance of the opposition parties in their quest to oust BJP and PM Modi at the Centre, has become a reality in the past few months. Despite their previous differences, all of them are getting together, with the Congress party at the front of it. And PM Modi mocked such parties, stating they used to oppose Congress in past, but just for power, have changed sides.
"Nowadays, a failure of Indian politics called as Mahagathbandha is being promoted. The political parties, which began in protest against Congress, which began after being disgruntled with the working of Congress, they are today getting together. Back at a time, when Congress was not dominating, they left the Congress and stood up against them. Today, when Congress is in decline, filled with corruption, the biggest of its leaders are out on bail, these political parties are going to Congress and surrendering in front of them.
"The very people who saw you as an option instead on Congress, today you are betraying them. Just a few days ago, the trailer of the gathbandhan was out. You all see, the Gathbandhan was smashed in Telangana. In Karnataka, where the first gathbandhan government was made, look what the CM of the state is saying. It's been only few months, but the Karnataka CM is so frustrated and saying that 'instead of CM, I have been made a clerk'. In Rajasthan, MP, it is being said, if you want to run the government, take back these cases, do this work. This is only the trailer," the Prime Minister added.
