  • Master poll strategist and newly installed JD(U) Vice President Prashant Kishor revealed why he took up politics as a career option and specifically joined Nitish Kumar-led JD(U)
  • Kishor, who has strategised a number of critical election wins for the BJP (2014 General elections), Congress (2017 Punjab win, Uttar Pradesh loss) and JD(U)-RJD 'Mahagathbandhan' (2015 Bihar win), joined the Bihar CM Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) in September 2018

Master poll strategist and newly installed JD(U) Vice President Prashant Kishor in a sensational episode of 'Nation Wants To Know' with Republic TV's Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami revealed why he took up politics as a career option and specifically joined Nitish Kumar-led JD(U).

"I never wanted to continue doing what I was doing in my previous avatar for the want of better word. I never ever wanted to do it all my life. It just so happened that, I would not call it a steeping stone. I definitely wanted to do something which is meaningful for the community at large and I see in democracy for someone with my pedig ree, no surname and Middle-class background, the only way I could have started in politics was by helping someone structure and organize his or her campaign", he said.

On asked as to why he joined JD(U):

"I am not trying to help Nitish. In joining JD(U), it is my desire to be closer to people I want to be with which is Bihar. I want to do something for Bihar".

When asked why he didn't choose to launch his own party and instead joined Nitish Kumar-led JD(U), he said:

"There is no need for me to launch my own political party. I fairly feel connected. Reasonably connected I would say. I am not number 2. This is how the media describes me. I don't feel like number 2 or number 3. I have just joined the party. I do enjoy his (Nitish Kumar) faith and trust. I am grateful to Nitish Kumar and for that matter the whole hierarchy of the party in general and that they have the faith in me, I am doing whatever I can do".

"I have no game. My game in the previous avatar, if there was any, was to understand politics and how it works to do something good for the country", he added.

Kishor, who has strategised a number of critical election wins for the BJP (2014 General elections), Congress (2017 Punjab win, Uttar Pradesh loss) and JD(U)-RJD 'Mahagathbandhan' (2015 Bihar win), joined the Bihar CM Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) in September 2018. Nitish Kumar handed over the membership receipt to Kishor himself making it crystal clear that the poll strategist-turned-politician will be high in the party's pecking order. Nitish also termed Prashant Kishor as the "future" of JD(U).
